As a child I always had problems with aerobic exercise (swimming, running, etc...). On a school sports day, age 9 years, I signed up for the 800 metre race... but only made it to 400 metres and was then escorted to the ambulance on the grounds to be put on an oxygen mask. After the humiliation from that day onwards, I always preferred to be a spectator rather than a participating athlete.
At the end of grade six, I was still a petite 38kg, however, six months later I had almost doubled my weight, as puberty was not kind to me.
Because of my earlier experience with exercise I turned to fad diets and quick fixes. Unfortunately this was no help and only made things worse. I would end up bigger than before. My weight fluctuated continuously, going between sizes 10 - 14, until my early 20s.
As I got older, not only did I worry about my body image, but I had health risks to consider. I have a strong family history of Type II Diabetes on both sides of the family. Also at the age of 21 I was diagnosed with severe vertigo, which can be escalated by an unhealthy lifestyle. Boyfriends even expressed my weight being an issue for them, and if I put on anymore weight that they would not want to continue having a relationship with me. Okay, so now it was time to get serious. “No pain, no gain”. Drastic measures were required to change my lifestyle and re-evaluate what I wanted to do with my life. I really wanted to do this for me!
I needed motivation, and most of all self-confidence. So, I decided to do some goal setting for myself. I have always wanted to do modelling, always told that I had the face, but the not the body. Well, why not? Set a high goal, and it would feel so great to achieve it. Weight-loss is never easy; you have to put in the hard work, no quick fixes, to get the results – and I needed a big result!

I listened to anyone who had something to say about healthy eating and fitness. I looked at the way certain countries that have a lower percentage of obesity lived. How they ate, but more importantly... when they ate. I listened to anyone with fitness experience and learnt what were the best ways of melting those kilos and I started using what I heard and what I learnt and incorporated it into what has been for me a successful weight loss program.
My complete weight-loss journey took a lot of sweat and tears, eating food that helped me stay satisfied, but also helped me with losing weight. Most importantly, it took a lot of motivation and determination. It took me a total of 18 months to drop from size 14 to what I am now...a stable and consistent size 7. I have maintained this weight for over two years. Whilst I still watch what I eat, I do have a day off once a week, and I can enjoy going out to dinner with my friends without counting the calories
Since the beginning of my weight-loss journey, I have fulfilled my goals. At the beginning I was booed off stage at my first modelling competition for still being one of the bigger girls, but I continued with my weight-loss journey and kept on competing and now I have won bikini titles at state level, (Miss Bikini World Australia & Search for Summer), I have represented Australia in an international Pageant, (Miss South Pacific). The most important title of them all to me was when I won the ' Sports & Fitness Award' in Miss World Australia -
Now I want to help others. I want my story to inspire you to have enough hope in yourself to realise that dreams can come true. I want to stand by you in your weight-loss journey, not only as a personal trainer, but as a weight-loss motivator.
